2022 has been designated the Year of Recognition for the Participants in the War for the Integrity and Independence of the Republic of Moldova, Parliament resolved on Friday.
The Government has been instructed to adopt a plan of actions that includes social, cultural and educational activities, including meetings of Nistru war veterans with students.
The initiators, a group of PAS lawmakers, say that the purpose of the resolution is “to promote values, educate the young generation in the heroic and patriotic spirit, and pay tribute to war veterans who fought for the integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova”.
The designation is meant to mark the 30th anniversary of the armed conflict, which broke out on March 2, 1992. More than 300 people were killed in combat and 370 others were injured.
