With positive and negative moments, 2021 is coming to an end and what it generated leaves an imprint on the destiny of the person, family, the country. IPN spoke with those who care and have what to say about victories and failures, hopes and letdowns, achievements and losses. How 2021 was for the woman and local councilor Elena Crâșmari, from Dolna village of Strășeni district, vice president of the National Network of Women with Disabilities and president of the Public Association “Alianța pentru Dolna”.
2021 was a year with many health problems, but she found time and power to work. Elena Crîșmari, living a personal experience, somehow better realizes and becomes involved with dedication in the solving of the problems of persons with disabilities. She is satisfied with her professional accomplishments. 2021 was a year with a good start for the public association that he manages and for her post of local councilor. She thanks God for what she obtained and says that the failures make her stronger and motivate her to work even more for the human rights.
“We became involved in the solving of a number of local problems so that the citizens of Dolna also stand to gain, not only the persons with special needs. We ultimately managed to obtain two access ramps at the post office and at the Dolna mayor’s office. We made approaches to the District Council and this allocated 109,000 lei to us for building a fence around the family doctor’s office in Dolna,” said Elena Crâșmari.
As a local councilor, she defended the rights of the 42 persons with disabilities registered in Dolna. There are six persons with special needs living on one street alone. There, they managed to allocate 50,000 lei for building an accessible road for persons with disabilities “We hope that in 2022 the construction of the road will be completed as we have persons with reduced mobility, mothers with children in carriages in our village. In accordance with the current legislation, better accessibility should be ensured for these categories of persons. We are trying to solve the problems of all the residents as everyone wants to get rid of mud. But we cannot solve all the problems overnight with small funds”.
Elena Crâșmari also had a fruitful year as the president of the Public Association “Alianța pentru Dolna”. In partnership with the District Council, she took part in competitions and obtained funds from the European Union and Soros Foundation. Together with Keystone Moldova and the Public Association “Institutum Virtutes Civilis”, she won a €60,000 project to create a social service called Mobile Team. The mobile team will include kinetotherapists, psychologists and social assistants. “We are making effort to bring these services closer to the persons with disabilities and to other disadvantaged categories that cannot move and indeed need them. These services are intended not only for the inhabitants of Dolna village, but also for persons from all the villages of Strășeni district.”
Out of 16 designed projects, this is the second that she is implementing. But she does not give up. She is determined to work further as she realizes that the one who knocks will be opened the door and the one who asks will receive. The citizens deserve a better life and investments are needed for the purpose.
Elena Crâșmari became the vice president of the National Network of Women with Disabilities in 2017. Since 2019, she has served as a local councilor in Dolna. Also in 2019, she founded the Public Association “Alianța pentru Dolna and became its president.
