After several failed attempts, the budget of Chisinau municipality for 2015 was ultimately approved in the final reading on March 17. It was agreed by the votes of the Communist, Liberal-Democratic, Democratic and unaffiliated MPs after the spending in a number of areas was either increased or decreased, IPN reports.

Unaffiliated councilor Oleg Cernei abstained, saying he does not want to vote a budget divided between the Liberal Party and the Party of Communists. Neither Socialist councilor Dmitri Mitioglo voted.

The head of the General Finance Division Veronica Herta said the budget for 2015 provides for incomes of 2.839 billion lei, up 110 million lei on 2014, and an expenditure of 3.262 billion lei, an increase of 34 million lei on a year before.

More than half of the expenditure will go for the social sphere. The deficit will be covered with money obtained from the sale and privatization of public property, from foreign loans, etc.
