2013 declared Spiridon Vangheli's Year

2013 has been declared the Year of the children's author Spiridon Vangheli under a Government decision, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Moldovanu noted that Spiridon Vangheli, who turned 80 recently, is widely celebrated in Moldova for his stories about Guguta, “an emblematic child character”.
Spiridon Vangheli's tales and stories for children are popular both in Moldova and abroad. His stories were published in the U.S., Germany, Japan, Hungary, Finland and other countries.
Spiridon Vangheli is a winner of a Hans Christian Andersen Honorary Diploma and was awarded the Moldova State Award and the Romanian Writers' Award. He is a People's Writer and a Knight of the Order of the Republic.
