The budget of Chisinau municipality next year will be by half a billion lei larger than this year, the head of the General Finance Division Veronica Hertsa has said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
The draft budget provides for revenues of 2.4 billion lei, up 26% compared with 2011. The municipal budget for this year envisioned incomes of 1.889 billion lei when approved, Veronica Hertsa informed.
It also provides for a total expenditure of almost 2.6 billion lei. The deficit will be covered from the sale of municipal property and foreign financing. The social costs, especially for education, amount to 1.4 billion lei. A sum of 101 million lei was allocated for culture, 121 million lie for maintaining public order, 137 million lei for social support and protection, while 158.9 million lei for transport and road management. The 2012 Chisinau budget will cover 80% of the budgets of the suburban settlements.
The municipal administration may have a larger budget if Parliament adopts changes to introduce an additional road tax in the municipality of Chisinau. “We have already made an approach to the central authorities in this respect,” stated Veronica Hertsa.
Earlier, Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca expressed dissatisfaction with the draft budget for 2012, especially as regards investments.
