The election campaign of 2011 is the dirtiest of all the campaigns, while the candidates ignore the people’s interests, consider former mayors of Chisinau. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, [Serafim Urecheanu], mayor of Chisinau municipality in 1994-2005, said that the current election campaign and the way the key post of mayor is treated upset him. He stated that those who run for the mayoralty of Chisinau use different PR methods, but forget that they should be near the people and listen to their wishes. “They should descend and walk through the city as they do not discover America if they are mayors. The Chisinau residents have enormous work capacity, are patriots and I think they will make the right choice,” said Serafim Urecheanu. [Vasile Ursu], who served as acting mayor of Chisinau in 2005-2007, has told Info-Prim Neo that the current election campaign is based on party interests and money. “The truth is that the voters do not have great choice. The voters changed during the last six years. Then, the politicians talked to the people and promoted the values, but now there are party interests,” he stated. Vasile Ursu also spoke about the Liberal Democratic Party’s decision to withdraw Victor Bodiu from the electoral race. “Not long ago, the party asserted that their candidate was the best. Afterward, they withdrew him and gave their support to the candidate whom they criticized. What should the people think?,” asked Vasile Ursu. He called upon the candidates to give up criticism and focus on their electoral programs.
