[ - How was the political year 2007 for Moldova and what are your political forecasts for 2008?] 2007 is one of the years lost by our society that is under the domination of an authoritarian regime. This year saw a continuation of the Communist authorities’ attacks on the democratic values won by the society at the beginning of the 90s of the last century. [ - What were the most important political events that had a positive impact on Moldova and what were those that influenced negatively Moldova’s development, in your opinion?] The general local elections of June 2007 showed that the Communist Party does not have conclusive proofs as regards certain accomplishments in the economic sector: no new workplaces had been created, while the salaries are miserable. The situation in agriculture is appalling: there are settlements with residents that live in conditions similar to those of the Early Middle Ages. I often realize that Moldova does not produce anything: the soap, toothpaste and toothbrush, matches, lamps, office supplies and other goods are imported. Even the wheat and corn flour, the juices and a large part of the food products are imported. The transport units transporting passengers in the city are made in Germany, Russia or other countries. The clothes, footwear, building materials, with some exceptions, are produced outside Moldova. You get the impression that the Moldovans produce nothing visible. The current government did nothing to change the things to the better in the country. Instead, the clan in power became even richer and the gap between the administration and people became even deeper. [ - What are your organisation’s priorities for 2008 and, possibly, for 2009?] I’m glad that the ranks of the European Action Movement have enlarged. We became a political organisation with representatives in the Parliament of Moldova. New members, especially young, joined the Movement. I’m sure that only together we will manage to replace the present administration and to build a Romanian, European destiny. The broadly spoken of union must be initiated by the ordinary people. We will prove that we are better, that ours are more intelligent than theirs.
