200 persons with COVID-19 in serious state

The number of persons who are in a serious state in the hospital owing to COVID-19 rose to 200. Ten of them are on assisted ventilation, IPN quoted Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu as saying after the meeting of the National Focal Point.

As many as 2,129 infections with COVID-19 have been confirmed by lab tests so far. Of these, 128 were imported, while 2001 are local transmission cases. A number of 115 persons were discharged on April 17. More than 10,000 tests to detect the virus have been done by now.

Gheorghe Țurcanu, director of the Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, stated live that 237 patients with COVID-19 were admitted to their hospital and 106 of these were cured. The protective equipment provided to their hospital enables the doctors to maximally protect themselves from the virus. Seven doctors and three auxiliary workers have contracted the virus so far. The medical personnel overcame the initial fear of becoming infected with COVID-19.

In the morning of April 18, the Ministry of Health informed about the death of a 77-year-old man from Glodeni district. The patient with COVID-19 was admitted to the Glodeni District Hospital on April 11. He suffered from atherosclerotic cardiopathy and secondary hypertension.
