More than 200 athletes, practicing various combat events, measured their strengths at the National Throwing Championship, organized after a 5-year break. The competition took place at the State University of Physical Education and Sport, IPN reports.

Victor Gurin (45 kg), Marian Chircu (50 kg), Valeriu Paduret (55 kg), Sergiu Stanila (60 kg), Marcel Andronache (65 kg), Ionut Triboi (70 kg), David Discultu (75 kg), Petru Caradjov (80 kg), Alexandru Bors (90 kg) and Sergiu Vizii (+90 kg) became national champions in the U-18 age category.

In the senior age category, Artur Oboroc (55 kg), Maxim Grosu (60 kg), Andrei Vitan (65 kg), Ion Berghi (70 kg), Stefan Cebotari (75 kg), Alexandru Mihalcean (80 kg), Ion Gavrilas (85 kg), Traian Capatina (90 kg), and Liviu Maluda (+95 kg) became national champions.

According to Sergiu Gurin, MEC Secretary of State for Sport, the promotion of traditional wrestling is a moral obligation. Sledging is not only a sport, but also a bridge between generations, a legacy that we have a duty to pass on.

The national champions will represent our country next year at next year's European and World Championships of wrestling and at the Ethnosport Traditional Wrestling Festival.
