Young members of the initiative group “Spirit Romanesc” (“Romanian Spirit”) and of the National Christian Movement Monday staged a flashmob meeting in front of the Romanian Embassy in Moldova on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the anti-Communist Romanian revolution. The young people said they came to commemorate and venerate the heroes of the Romanian revolution under the slogan “Heroes Never Die”, Info-Prim Neo reports. The participants placed pictures of the heroes of the revolution in front of the Embassy, laid flowers and formed a “V” from lit candles, which symbolizes freedom and victory. “We came here to commemorate the brave people who fought against that criminal regime. We do not have the right to forget them and will always remember them,” said Sergiu Lascu, the head of the National Christian Movement, adding that a battle against communism and for people's freedom was fought 20 years ago. “Unfortunately, the previous years we could not commemorate those heroes because the Voronin regime was in power. Now we got rid of it,” said Sergiu Lascu. Elena Calancea, a member of the initiative group “Spirit Romanesc”, said she venerates especially the young people who struggled against the Communist regime. “The courageous young persons who fought against the Communist regime and against Nicolae Ceausescu managed to remove the regime. We did the same on April 7 this year.” The Romanian revolution of 1989 included a series of protests, street battles and demonstrations held in December 1989. They brought the Communist regime and Nicolae Ceausescu's rule tin Romania to an end.
