The authors of 20 works on health topics, published in 2012-2014, presented them in a conference staged by the National Public Health Center. The works center on the most important accomplishments in healthcare and novelties in disease treatment. There were also launched a series of guidebooks for children and teens about how to lead a healthy lifestyle.

University professor Constantin Spanu, vice director of the National Public Health Center, has told IPN that he, together with the team of specialists, launched three publications centering on the treatment, prophylaxis and prevention of viral hepatitis and HIV. “The books describe a number of activities related to the surveillance system and the inspection measures. We propose a set of innovations for modifying the treatment method, with preparations patented in our country,” he stated, noting that the books are designed to enrich the knowledge of doctors so that these meet the European standards. All the books will be distributed free to the national medical institutions.

University professor Ion Bahranel, first vice director of the National Public Health Center, presented five books, including a program for promoting teens’ health at community level and books about personal hygiene. “We have books for teachers and children teaching how a child should behave in emergencies. The books were written with the help of teachers so that the medical vocabulary was transformed into a language accessible to the children. We teach them how to correctly wash the hands and teeth and other personal hygiene things,” he stated.

According to Ion Bahranel, the children must be educated to prevent diseases and, in time, such teen risks as drug taking, smoking and sexually transmitted diseases. The books were distributed to medical institutions of the country. “I personally went to the Ministry of Education to offer these books so that they are available in schools. But I received no official answer. It is very important that a child receive such knowledge at an early age,” he said.

As many as 512 works on health issues were published in Moldova in 2012-2014.
