20 new transport units were added to the minibus route no.166

Starting February 1, 20 new transport units were put on the minibus route no.166. The new minibuses, made in Ukraine, have 28 seats, Info-Prim Neo reports, with reference to the City Hall PR Department. The introduction of new cars on the routes is the first step in the implementation of the Public Transport Concept, approved by the City Council, head of the General Department of Public Transport and Communication Ways, Veaceslav Tarna informed. The initiative to change the transport units belongs to the manager of the route. The vehicles will travel in line with the timetable, each 5 minutes, will stop only at minibus stations and each car will have a conductor. Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca welcomed the initiative of the route manager. According to him, following a Government decision of 1 January 2008 that bans converted minibuses from public transport, it is imperative to change the old minibuses for new units of transport. Dorin Chirtoaca said the new transport units guarantee the safety and comfort of passengers. These types of vehicles have proved their technical capacities, having been used for several years for passenger transport in Kiev, the Mayor concluded.
