Twenty Moldovan servicemen will participate in the European Union operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (EUFOR ALTHEA). A draft decision providing for this was adopted by Parliament, IPN reports.

Moldova’s contingent will take part in EUFOR ALTHEA as part of the contingent of the Romanian military forces and will carry out peace support and patrol missions in the area of operations. The mission will start on October 1, 2024 and will last for 12 months.

The logistical support will be provided by the Romanian contingent.

The European Union’s EUFOR ALTHEA in Bosnia and Herzegovina was established in 2004 and is aimed at maintaining a safe and stable environment by fully cooperating with the country’s armed forces and civilian authorities.

Currently, 22 countries are present in EUFOR ALTHEA.
