Twenty children from socially unprivileged families went on a train trip for the first time within an event organized by the state-run company Moldova’s Railways. The given children attend the Chisinau-based Center for Children and Youth “Andries”.
Valentina Volontir, specialist of the Centru Division for Child Rights Protection, has told Info-Prim Neo that the request was made by children who never traveled by train as their parents could not afford such trips.
“Furthermore, the children will be able to find out more about the regions of Moldova. They do not know the country as they were unable to travel,” said Valentina Volontir.
The children set off at 9am from the platform of the Chisinau Railway Station. They will travel to Ungheni and back, being accompanied by the head of Moldova’s Railways. The trip will last for about three hours.
