The Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office finished the investigation into a case that involves 19 persons, who are accused of smuggling and putting narcotic substances in large quantities intro circulation, and sent the case to court, IPN has learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Sixteen members of the group were arrested in December 2013, after they sold narcotic substances to officers under cover. The prosecutors established that the psychotropic substances were smuggled from Spain. Another three members of the group were arrested also last December, at the Moldovan-Romanian border crossing point “Leuseni – Albita”. They attempted to smuggle over 58 kg of hashish into Moldova. During a search at the home of one of the suspects, the police found another over 8.7 kg of hashish.
Currently, all the members of the group are under arrest. They face long jail terms.
