Nineteen apartment buildings in the municipality of Chisinau have not been yet connected to the heating system. Deputy mayor Vlad Cotet Monday said that the level of payments for heat in the given buildings is very low, Info-Prim Neo reports. Vlad Cotet said the dwellers of the 138 apartments of the 19 buildings paid 5% to 50% of the heat bills. “I ask the managers of the given buildings to go to Termocom until it is not very cold and agree debt rescheduling timetables so that these buildings are supplied with heat too. The dwellers of the 19 blocks are not among the most underprivileged, but they say they do not have money to pay for heat,” stated the deputy mayor. He also said that the practice of disconnecting the buildings from the heat supply for a period in order to save heat will be abandoned the next days. “Nighttime temperatures of minus 8 degrees Celsius are expected this week,” said Vlad Cotet. SA Termocom director Mihail Cernei stressed the given practice leads to accidents in the heating system as the temperature there is not constant. About 22,000 Chisinau residents have asked for cold-month assistance this year. Last year the figure was 29,000.
