Eighteen projects of the diaspora will be financed within the governmental thematic grants program Diaspora Engagement Hub that is intended for Moldovan citizens from the diaspora. The wining projects will get financing to the value of over 1.127 million lei, IPN reports.
According to the Bureau for Diaspora Relations, the projects were chosen by an assessment commission out of 26 applications submitted between December 7, 2017 and March 15, 2018. The participants could apply to three subprograms: Regional Thematic Partnerships; Empowerment of Women in the Diaspora, and Professional Return of the Diaspora.
Within the ”Regional Thematic Partnerships” subprogram, three of the four submitted files will be financed. Each grant is of 93,900 lei. The winning projects of this category are aimed at establishing partnerships between associations for implementing regional socioeconomic activities, community, educational and health activities.
Grants to the same value will be provided for implementing the five projects chosen within the subprogram “Empowerment of Women in the Diaspora”. These projects are designed to empower the women from the diaspora at economic, social, civic and juridical levels.
Within the third subprogram “Professional Return of the Diaspora”, all the submitted applications were accepted. Thus, ten projects aimed at encouraging the transfer of human capital and professional experience for the academic, social and economic development of the Republic of Moldova will be financed with 37,500 lei per grant.
The Diaspora Engagement Hub is implemented with financial support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation within the second phase of the project “Consolidating Moldova’s Migration and Development Institutional Framework”.
