Work to create the first 18 parking spots has started on Armeneasca Street beside Chisinau’s Central Market. The lot will include parking spaces for people with disabilities as well as street furniture.
Mayor Ion Ceban says the activity is part of the first stage of a plan to modernize the Central Market and responds to the pressing need for parking spaces in this area.
Earlier in this area, a number of kiosks were removed from the Central Market’s entrance from Armenească St./Mitropolit Varlaam St.
In the future, the municipality plans to create about 100 more parking spaces on three streets surrounding the Central Market: Armenească, Mitropolit Varlaam, and Tighina.
If the plan to build a multi-story park for up to 400 cars, with commercial spaces at the ground floor, gets approval in the City Council, work will be launched according to the approved design, added the mayor.
