President Nicolae Timofti signed a decree by which the day when actor Mihai Volontir is buried – September 17 – was declared a national mourning day in sign of profound pain caused by the death of the remarkable actor, director and singer, who was an active promoter of the national and cultural values and who signed the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Moldova.
According to the presidential decree, quoted by IPN, on September 17 the state flags will be flown at half-mast in all Moldova’s settlements. A moment’s silence will be observed at 12 noon. The National Public Broadcaster “Teleradio-Moldova” will broadcast live the funeral and burial of Mihai Volontir.
The public authorities, enterprises and organizations are recommended to give up carrying out recreational activities on September 17, while the radio stations and TV channels are asked to take into account the typical features of the mourning day when editing publications and producing programs.
