As many as 164 contracts for leasing out forests were terminated by court decisions or by the mutual agreement of the sides until this July. These contracts were signed in 2008-2012 and refer to an area of over 8,000 hectares. A number of 842 leases were signed in the period, covering an area of almost 15,000 hectares.
According to the press service of the Forestry Agency “Moldsilva”, quoted by IPN, 678 contracts, for an area of almost 7,000 hectares of forests or 2.3% of the managed forest stock, are still valid.
Thirty-one cases over debts of 2.36 million lei are pending in court. There are also 56 execution orders transmitted to bailiffs, over debts of 8.182 million lei.
“Moldsilva” is empowered to check the leased out areas and to draw up administrative reports if it identifies irregularities such as unauthorized destruction of the palanquin and layer of soil and illegal cutting of trees and bushes.
