16 years of independence – 16 race cars at “Independence Cup” Rally

The second edition of the national rally “Independence Cup” will take place on August 25 and 26. It is included in the programme of festivities dedicated to the Republic Day. 16 race cars will participate in the ride. They will represent the 16 years of independence. The cars will be driven by well-known drivers from Moldova. The race will officially start on August 25 in the morning in the Great National Assembly Square. After a pit stop in Soroca, the cars will come back to the centre of Chisinau. On August 26 the process will be similar but the pit stop will be in Cahul. The race track has a total length of about 1000 km. The cars will be escorted by police cars, firemen, ambulances and squads of the National TV station which will broadcast live the race. More, the vehicles will be supervised by a helicopter with the commentators of the race. The Independence Cup Trophy will be offered by President Vladimir Voronin on August 26. The first three winners will receive USD 1000, 500 and 300. The event is organised by “Teleradio-Moldova” in partnership with the oil company “Valiexchimp” and the National Motorists Federation of Moldova.
