The Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family will allocate 17 million lei to subsidize 10-day tickets in summer camps for 15,000 children this year, 1,000 fewer than last year, said Minister Valentina Buliga at a news conference on Friday, Info-Prim Neo reports. More than a half of the tickets (55%) will be distributed among children from underprivileged families, orphan children, children in foster care, and children with excellent academic standing. The remainder will be given to be distributed by the unions at 20% of their cost. The Ministry will conduct a public tender contest on May 31 to select contractor camps. Valentina Buliga also said that with support from the Swiss foundation Swisscor, four residents of the Hancesti orphanage for children with acute mental deficiencies will benefit from treatment this summer in a Swiss therapeutic camp. Minister Buliga said that 5.5 million lei were allocated from the social assistance fund to provide lump-sum benefits to underprivileged families and an additional 240,000 lei were allocated from the Chisinau budget for benefits to orphans, grades 9 to 11. In total, assistance will be provided to 22,000 families with children.
