15 secondhand trolleybuses purchased from the Latvian capital Riga will run on the streets of Chisinau. Director of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company Dorin Chernyi said that under the action plan for the next four years, until 2024 the old trolleybuses will disappear from the streets of Chisinau, IPN reports.
Dorin Chernyi said that 100 old trolleybuses run currently on routes. Some of them are even 30 years old. Those that are to be delivered from Riga will replace these. The Chisinau Electric Transport Company will also receive another 30 new trolleybuses from Belarus until the end of next February. The company now has 400 units of transport, 290 of which are of new type. All the old trolleybuses will be substituted gradually.
Dorin Chernyi noted that the five trolleybuses decorated in the spirit of the winter holidays, which were put on rotes on December 25, will run on the streets of Chisinau on New Year’s Eve. They will not take on passengers, but will run for four hours on a route that embraces all the districts of Chisinau so as to create a holiday atmosphere. Most of the used decorations were bought last year.
