Fourteen girls, seven of whom younger than 18, were forced to have sex for money by a criminal group. Deputy head of the General Police Inspectorate’s Center for Combating Trafficking in Persons Iurie Podarilov told a news conference that the girls are aged between 15 and 21 and come from socially underprivileged families. In most of the cases, the girls had been earlier sexually exploited by other criminal groups. Some of them were drugged, IPN reports.
According to Iurie Podarilov, the clients paid by 500 to 1,000 lei for an hour in the company of the girls. These were found through online announcements. Four men and a woman aged between 23 and 32, including the head of the group, were arrested in this case.
The suspects are investigated for procuring and trafficking in children. They face up to 20 years behind bars or life.
