136 students didn’t reach school owing to snowfall

A number of 136 students from five districts could not get to school this morning after school bus routes were suspended due to the snow and ice.

According to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, the bus routes were suspended in Cioresti, Nisporeni; Baimaclia and Suhat, Cantemir; Ialpug-Hirtop, Cimislia, Homuteanovca, Ialoveni and Ungheni.
 
Contacted by IPN, Carolina Sturza, head of the press service of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure said all the national roads are passable. When it started to snow heavier, 230 snowplows and almost 300 workers were involved in snow removal works. About 3,000 tonnes of antiskid material have been spread so far.

The State Hydrometeorological Service issued a yellow code advisory for heavy precipitation of up to 15-20 liters per square meter, in parts of even 20-25 liters per square meter, for February 15, until midnight. There will be sleet and snow in northern and central Moldova and predominantly rain in the southern districts of the country.
