134 employees of Ștefan Vodă and Soroca hospitals diagnosed with COVID-19

As many as 134 employees of the hospitals based in Ștefan Vodă and Soroca towns and of the emergency care system were diagnosed with COVID-19. After the two towns were placed in quarantine, the hospital in Ștefan Vodă was closed. The Soroca District Hospital continues to work as there are conditions and professional potential there, as specialists said, IPN reports.

After the meeting of the National Focal Point, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu said that 46 of the 446 hospital employees were hospitalized, whereas ten are self-isolating. Forty-two employees of the emergency care system were also admitted to the hospital.

Viorica Dumbrăveanu said the Ministry is to propose that the Commission for Exceptional Situations should consider placing Talmaza village in quarantine given that the number of infections with COVID-19 there rose to 29.

A number of 24 cases of death associated with the novel coronavirus have been reported in Moldova so far. Among the fatalities are three doctors. The number of confirmed infections now stands at 1,056.
