A 13-year-old child died at the Clinical Psychiatric Hospital located in Codru town. He was transferred from the Căușeni District Hospital, where he was treated for bronchopneumonia with toxic-infectious syndrome. In Chisinau, he was diagnosed with drug-induced urinary retention. The Ministry of Health provided clarifications following press reports that the minor got poisoned with psychotropic substances, IPN reports.
The Ministry noted that the minor suffered from severe mental retardation and had been under the supervision of a psychiatrist since the age of four. He was treated in Căușeni for bronchopneumonia during August 23-29.
“After he was discharged, his condition worsened and on September 2 the family went to the same hospital again. On the same day, after he was examined by a psychiatrist, it was decided to transfer the patient to the Clinical Psychiatric Hospital in Codru. Upon admission to the hospital, he was diagnosed with drug-induced urinary retention,” said the Ministry.
The patient was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit where he was given drug treatment. However, the general condition continued to worsen and the child died, suffering multiple organ failure. A medical examination is to be carried out to find out the exact cause of death.
