Thirteen universities and colleges in Moldova will receive €14.3 million for implementing 20 projects. There will be outfitted 52 laboratories and research centers, 67 lecture rooms, multifunctional halls and other training spaces, IPN reports.
“We all know that the economy of the future will be based on knowledge. Our country needs engineers who will build a strong Moldova, devoted IT specialists, reliable medical personnel who will provide high-quality services, teachers who will train and cultivate values in the new generations. The formation of all these professions needs to take place with methods and contents relevant for our century, taking into account the transformations through which not only our society, but also the whole making goes,” Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița stated in the event to launch the projects selected as part of the project “Higher Education in Moldova”.
The Prime Minister said that to help the higher educational institutions to meet the expectations of the young people and society, the authorities did the institutional reform of universities and in the future will continue to improve the legislation in the field and to come with the resources needed to ensure the quality of the educational process.
Natalia Gavrilița called on the institution managers to engage more young women in such areas as engineering and information technology. “The intelligence and innovation resource of women and girls in our country is huge. Let’s together offer them all the conditions they need so that they realize their enormous potential,” urged the official.
Minister of Education and Research Anatolie Topală noted that the financial resources provided as part of the project will help the institutions to become more powerful and this will have an impact on the relevance of the educational process and on the quality of graduates.
Among the entities chosen by the competition team are seven public higher educational establishments and six teacher-training colleagues based in Soroca, Cahul, Chisinau, Orhei and Balti.
