A boy aged 12 from Ocnita district is suspected of being the author of the February 7 bomb hoax at the Chisinau International Airport. The police carried out searches at his home from where they seized the suspect’s mobile phone and computer, IPN reports, quoting the Border Police.

A criminal case over intentional misinformation about a planned explosion that endangers human lives was started. The offense carries a penalty of 10,000 to 25,000 lei and 180 to 240 hours of community service or even up to two years in jail.

At about 3:30pm on February 7, the passengers and personnel of the Chisinau International Airport were evacuated from the terminal after the Border Police received an email saying a bomb was planted in the airport’s building. The person demanded that 1 million Russian rubbles should be transferred to an e-wallet account. The check-in was temporarily stopped and some of the flights were delayed. Specialized teams of the Ministry of the Interior found no explosive device.
