The national ICT regulator (ANRCETI) will offer two new short national phone numbers to providers of public fixed telephone networks - 116006 and 116117 - for social telephone assistance services. These numbers are used in the EU for the same kind of services. This provision is contained in the amendments to the National Numbering Plan (NNP), IPN reports.
Under the NNP, the short national number 116006 is allocated for the telephone assistance line for victims of crimes. It will offer these persons the possibility of receiving psychological assistance in such situations, being informed about their rights and methods of exercising these rights and of being directed to the institutions that can help them.
The short national number 116117 is allocated for the medical telephone service that does not form part of. This service will direct the calls to the appropriate medical services for urgent matters that do not yet pose a threat to life, especially, but not exclusively outside the normal work program, on the weekly nonworking days and during official holidays.
To implement the mentioned services, the ANRCETI approved the procedure for allotting short national numbers for social services adjusted to the European standards, in the 116xxx format. The Agency is now working out the special license conditions for using the short national numbers 116006 and 116117.
Earlier, the ANRCETI made available short national numbers for harmonized social services 116000, 116111 and 116123, while in May 2014 it allocated the number 116111 to SA Moldtelecom for use between June 1, 2014 and December 31, 2016.
Following the changes made to the NNP, the short national numbers 1300 – 1319 will be allotted for new non-communication services, while the short numbers 1500 – 1559 – for services with special charge (Premium rate).
The ANRCETI manages the NNP resources and allocates them based on the license, at request, to providers of electronic communication networks that use them for own necessities, offer them to their subscribers or to other persons authorized to provide public services.
