112 Service could be launched at end of 2018

The launch of the 112 Service was planned for the end of 2018. Contacted by IPN, Liviu Oboroc, director of the National Common Emergency Phone Service 112 said the 112 Service works in accordance with the objectives set down in the plan of action approved by a Government decision.

Liviu Oboroc said the Service’s activity is now centered on the creation and development of the information and electronic communications system of the 112 Service.

On March 2 this year, the Government approved the budget of the 112 Service for 2017 in the amount of 50 million lei. The money is used to repair the offices and purchase the necessary equipment. The personnel costs will total 7.6 million lei, while the current costs 4.7 million lei.

The 112 Service will have the status of public institution and will be financed with state budget allocations, extra-budgetary resources and donors’ funds.

The creation of the Service is envisioned in the Moldova - EU Association Agreement. By dialing 112, one will contact free the police, firemen, emergency medical service and gas service.
