A girl aged 11 from Ursoaia village of Căușeni district was hit mortally by a car in the evening of May 29. The car was driven by a man aged 53, who was close to the girl’s family. The driver wasn’t inebriated, IPN reports.
Asked by IPN to provide details, Căușeni Police Inspectorate press officer Corina Repeshchuk said the driver was taking the girl’s bother home. The child heard the car approaching and ran out of the yard to meet her brother, being struck by the car at that moment. They say the driver was speeding, but the information hasn’t been yet confirmed.
The breath test taken by the driver showed this wasn’t under the influence of alcohol. The man suffered a powerful shock and needed hospitalization.
An investigation is under way. The driver faces three to seven years in jail.
