11 contenders to compete in Eurovision 2024 national final

The Eurovision 2024 national final on February 17 will involve 11 competitors. The finalists were chosen by a professional jury as a result of live auditions, IPN reports.

According to Teleradio-Moldova Company, Natalia Barbu, who competed with the song “In the middle”, got the highest score. The other contenders come as follows: Valeria Pasha with the song “Anti-Princess”, Iulia Teleucă – “Runaway”, Cătălina Solomac – “Fever”, OL – “No Time No Space”, Julea Viola – “Light Up”, Reghina Alexandrina – “Countersense”, Victor Gulick – “Fever”, Nicoleta Sava – “Bravo”, Sasha Letty –  “DNA”, and Y-Limit – “REVOLUTION”.

The 30 songs from the live auditions stage were judged by the head of the Radio and Television subdivision of Teleradio-Moldova Company Elena Stegari, Deputy Director General for Development of Teleradio-Moldova Company Andrei Zapsa, Moldova’s representative at Eurovision Song Contest 2016, singer Lidia Isac, president of the Union of Composers and Musicologists of the Republic of Moldova Paul Gamurari, and composer, people’s artist Liviu Ştirbu. The songs were assessed according to the melodic line, originality of the song and interpretation. The jury rated each song on a scale of 0 to 12 in this stage.

In the national final on February 17, the contenders must present a show with a choreographic concept and stage wear. The score will consist of 50% jury points and 50% televoting.

The contestant who will accumulate the highest score will represent the Republic of Moldova in Malmö, Sweden, where the 68th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest will take place.

Last year, Moldova was represented by Pasha Parfeni, who ranked 18th in the grand final with the song “The Sun and the Moon”. Moldova achieved the best result at Eurovision in 2017, when SunStroke Project ranked third with the song “Hey Mamma”.
