A number of 100 poems written by 20 Moldovan and Russian classical poets were translated into Gagauzian and included in the volume “Fallen Stars”. The author of the book, Ambassador Fiodor Angheli told Info-Prim Neo that he wanted to translate the best poems from Romanian so as to help the young generation in Gagauzia to easier learn the official language.
The volume is opened by five poems by Gheorghe Asachi. “It was hard to translate these poems owing to the difficult vocabulary used at that time,” Fiodor Angheli said.
The book contains poems by Mihai Eminescu, Vasile Alecsandri, Tudor Arghezi, George Bacovia, Lucian Blaga, Octavian Goga, Dumitru Matcovschi, Grigore Vieru and other writers. Most of them were translated into Gagauzian for the first time.
“I want to help the children in Gagauzia to know the official language. The book will be distributed to schools and libraries in the Autonomous Territorial Unit free of charge,” Fiodor Angheli said.
The volume was issued in 1,000 copies.
Fiodor Angheli has translated several books into Gagauzian. They include “Masallar” (“Tales”), which contains five tales by A. S. Pushkin, and “Çoban yildizi-çulpan” (“The Shepherd’s Star”) - the translation of “Luceafarul” poem by Mihai Eminescu.
