One hundred percent of the periodic reports from the licensed banks are submitted to the National Bank of Moldova in digital format, through the SIRBNM system. From July 1, the number of entities to report to the NBM will grow to about 500, as the central bank becomes responsible for supervising the non-banking financial sector as well, stated Eugeniu Aftene, director of Reporting and Statistics at NBM, during a public relations event on Wednesday.

“We manage the reporting system so that all the necessary tools are available for generating, signing and submitting those reports to NBM, as well as for accessing the information within the system. We also handle the generation of reports for internal users. The system that is implemented within the NBM, called SIRBNM, is a modern information system that enables the generation of reports without the need for programming skills”, said Eugeniu Aftene.

He explained that all reports submitted to the National Bank have an electronic signature. Reports are submitted only by persons who are authorized by the reporting entities. Documents can only be submitted if they comply with the mandatory validation rules. “We have the ‘Monetary Statistics’ report which is presented both weekly and monthly by all licensed banks. This report has 1356 rows, the information in it being validated based on 327 validation rules. Another document that may be of interest is the ‘Loan and Deposit Interest Rates’ report. This report is validated based on about 1000 validation rules’, exemplified Aftene.

Arcadie Albul, deputy governor of the National Bank, said that the NBM has reached an important milestone in the field of statistics and data transparency. Moldova is ranked 15th out of 193 countries by the Open Data Inventory in 2022. “This achievement underlines the effectiveness of our statistical function to provide accurate, reliable, transparent data for the public, but also for the international community”, said Arcadie Albul.

The reporting and statistics department was established in 2011 to optimize the process of data collection, reporting and dissemination of statistics.
