An aerial bomb weighing 100 kg was discovered by a group of workers while laying a gas pipe in Măgdăceşti village of Criuleni district. The German bomb dates from World War II. It was transported to the Bulboaca Military Training Base and destroyed there. Bomb disposal technicians of the National Army in October defused over 20 explosive devices of different calibers, IPN reports, with reference to the Ministry of Defense.
The same month, the explosive ordinance disposal technicians neutralized a reactive 320 mm mortar found in a sand quarry near Puhăceni commune of Anenii Noi district and three antitank mines TM-57 discovered in a forest near Ghetlova village of Orhei district. The weapons were transported to a safe place and destroyed in conditions of maximum security.
According to Lieutenant-Colonel Adrian Efros, head of the Bomb Disposal Service, most of the weapons, among which were 82 mm bomb launchers and hand grenades, were discovered in villages of Căușeni, Anenii Noi and Călărași districts.
As many as 30 explosive devices were neutralized in Moldova so far this year.
