A 38-year-old man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after threatening a taxi driver with a knife for a free ride from Ungheni to Chisinau, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the case took place on the evening of July 28, 2024.
After getting into the taxi, the defendant threatened the taxi driver with a knife, forcing him to drive him to Chisinau. According to the victim's statements, the defendant also took a sum of money from her.
According to the sentence recently handed down by the Buiucani branch of the Chisinau District Court, the man was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
The defendant was also charged with robbery, but the court acquitted him on this count.
