PPPDA criticizes government’s intention to increase conventional unit

The Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) criticizes the government’s intention to increase the conventional unit and asks the executive to withdraw this bill from Parliament. Members of the party said that this increase is abusive and will generate an exponential rise in corruption. Moreover, they intend to stage protests if the bill is not withdrawn.

In a news conference at IPN, PPPDA deputy head Alexandru Slusari said the 2.5 times rise in fines will lead to larger underground economy. The conventional unit is to be increased unjustifiably, immorally and abusively. This will affect both the people and the entrepreneurs who haven’t yet recovered from the theft committed in the financial-banking sector. This bill was approved by the Government without being consulted with businesspeople. It is immoral to increase the amounts collected into the state budget by raising the fines.

Another deputy head of the party Stanislav Pavlovschi said that by raising the fines, the government wants to recover the money that was stolen from the banking sector. Also, the norms stipulated in the bill are not clear.

Deputy head Inga Grigoriu said the rise in the conventional unit will create difficulties to small and medium-sized businesses. “This segment is fully dependent on the accessibility of financial resources hat are to be used for developing it and for involving entrepreneurs in business by training them,” she stated.

According to Inga Grigoriu, the SME sector is under permanent pressure and the lack of support at national level and of unjustified regulations do not motivate the people to start businesses.

The members of the PPPDA presented a statement on the rise in the conventional unit. “We ascertained with stupefaction that the given bill wasn’t consulted with business associations, civil society and the tripartite commission (Government-Employers-Trade Unions). This runs counter to the pompous statements of the illegitimate Government concerning the business environment and civil society,” reads the party’s statement.
