“I’m indignant at the attempt of my electoral opponents Silvia Radu and Igor Dodon to cause a scandal in the campaign out of the support that we offer to pensioners. I understand that, as the last polls show that Igor Dodon cannot win the election by the first round, he tries to eliminate the direct opponents,” the candidate for President of the Party “Ravnopravie”/Shor Party Inna Popenko says in a press release quoted by IPN.
Inna Popenko considers the victim of these political games will not be she, as a candidate in the presidential elections, but hundreds of pensioners, veterans and people of socially deprived groups. “The reaction to the opening of social stores and the use of sophistication and legal manipulations show once again that the electoral opponents do not care about people’s problems. For Igor Dodon and Silvia Radu, the people actually do not exist,” she stated.
“The duo Igor Dodon and Silvia Radu (in the period when they held high-ranking posts, the population witnessed a significant rise in tariffs), who is trying to close the social store and to remove me from the race for the presidency, is blameworthy. I regret that the CEC allows to be influenced by the unfounded objections of my opponents. The power goes beyond any limit of the common senses. This is a shameful violation of the electoral legislation and of my rights as a candidate for President of the Republic of Moldova by the authorities.”
She noted that in Orhei, the social stores were opened not for the elections and will work after the elections as well.
Ilan Shor, leader of the Party “Ravnopravie”/Shor Party, transmitted through his lawyers a letter whereby he says that neither the authorities, nor the opposition can accept the fact that a party that solves the real problems of the ordinary people, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, not being present in the Government or Parliament, appeared on the political arena.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) accepted independent candidate Silvia Radu’s request to annul the decision to register the candidate of the Party “Ravnopravie”/Shor Party Inna Popenko as a runner in the October 30 presidential elections by eight votes for and one abstention. The relevant documents are to be sent to court for taking a decision. The Appeals Court has five days to pronounce on the issue.
