The police have confirmed that the mother of the director of the newspaper “Panorama” Dmitry Chubashenko has been murdered. Contacted by IPN, head of the press service of the Chisinau Police Division Adrian Jovmir confirmed that the woman who was found dead in her apartment in Rascani district of Chisinau on November 26 is the journalist’s mother.

The police were alerted by an acquaintance of the victim, who came to visit her, at about 4pm. The police established that the 75-year-old woman had signs of violent death on the head. A medical-legal examination will be performed to find out the cause of death.

A criminal case was started over murder. The culprit faces 15 years behind bars.

The woman’s death was announced by host Natalia Morari in the program “Politics” on TV 7 channel. On his social networking site, political analyst Alexei Tulbure wrote that he was phone by Dmitry Chubashenko, who told him that his mother was killed.
