A driver died in a multiple vehicle collision that happened in Straseni district, near Bucovat village, in the evening of September 23.
Press officer of the National Patrolling Inspectorate Diana Fetco has told IPN that repair works are performed on the road segment where the accident occurred and traffic there was redirected in parts. It is alleged that the driver of the first car, of Renault make, didn’t know this and braked suddenly owing to low visibility at night. At that moment, he was struck from behind by a Daewoo car, which, for its part, was hit by an Opel.
The collision was so powerful that the Renault was projected into a ditch, while the driver of the Daewoo, who was seriously injured, died on the spot. The other two drivers were unhurt.
The police started a criminal case and are investigating all the circumstances to establish which of the drivers didn’t obey the required distance and if these were speeding.
