Once in seven years, people with locomotor disabilities will be allowed to import one car without paying any fiscal or customs taxes. This was proposed by a working group assembled by prime minister Pavel Filip following petitions from people with locomotor disabilities.
The Government said in a press release that the legislation will soon be amended to this end. Today, tax exempted are only people with severe locomotor disabilities if the car is donated and fully adapted for use by disabled drivers.
Aditionally, it is planned to create a customization shop to adapt the autos to the special needs of their drivers. The working group also requested the National Road Transport Agency to require taxi companies to have adapted cabs for such clients.
Further responding to the petitions, the task force will ensure that activities continue to equip public buildings with ramps. To give an example, the Government building is now adding ramps to its entrances from Puskin St and Bodoni St and which will be ready by September.
Moldova is home to about 15,000 people with locomotor disabilities.
