Those who intend to take part in the May 9 events are urged to obey the law and not to allow public order to be violated. The police will be there and will intervene, if necessary. In a news conference, the head of the General Police Inspectorate Viorel Cernăuțeanu said the police will stand by the citizens and will have open communication with everyone so as to inform all the persons about the necessity of obeying the legal provisions, IPN reports.

Viorel Cernăuțeanu called on the parents with children who intend to take part in the events to be responsible towards their children. He urged all the citizens to realize the risks and to behave in a civilized way. Those who will have questions or will experience unclear situations should call the 112 Service or should go to the closest police station to inform themselves about the steps that need to be taken.

To ensure the people’s safety and security, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations staged a series of activities to prevent situations of risk and to ensure fire safety. The Inspectorate’s deputy head Anatolie Vinichuk said the weather is warm and many people will go for a walk or for a picnic in woods and recreation places. The Inspectorate recommends avoiding starting fires in such places as this should be done in specially allocated places that are monitored.

Over 600 employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations and about 1,500 Border Police employees will be daily on duty in the immediate period.

Moldova’s Parliament recently banned by law the making, wearing and spreading of military signs used in military aggression, war crimes and crimes against humanity. The symbols used for scientific and educational purpose, in historical reconstruction activities are an exception from the law. The use of the black-and-orange ribbon of Saint George is also banned.
