Prime Minister Pavel Filip proposed including new areas of interest, such as securing of the information space and combating of challenges to the national media, in the Moldova-U.S. cooperation framework. The proposals were formulated in a meeting with the Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs of the U.S. Department of State Richard Stengel and were welcomed by the U.S. official, IPN has learned from the Government’s press service.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the High-Level Segment of the UN General Assembly in New York. Pavel Filip informed the U.S. partners about the actions taken by the Government to promote the freedom of the media and pluralism of opinions in Moldova.
For his part, Richard Stengel welcomed the progress made by the current Government in fulfilling the assumed commitments and reiterated the United States’ support for the implementation of the reform program, including in the mass media sector.
