Stefan cel Mare Blvd. will be partially transformed into pedestrian area on Saturdays and Sundays. The buses and trolleybuses will move along the third lane. The proposal was made by Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, IPN reports.

”We can make again this street a pedestrian area on Saturdays and Sundays. We earlier encountered a problem with public transport, which was redirected to other streets,” the mayor said in the March 25 meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials.

Deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu said the idea is achievable as the buses and trolleybuses can travel at low speed near sidewalks.

Dorin Chirtoaca asked presenting a relevant project in a week so as to see if the area can be used as a pedestrian one on a permanent basis.
