The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration has announced that preliminary data showed no Moldovan nationals were killed or hurt in the earthquake that rocked the resort island of Ischia in southern Italy on Monday.

The Ministry said in a press release that it will continue, together with the Moldovan Embassy in Rome, to monitor the situation. In case of necessity, Moldovan nationals can turn to the Embassy for help by calling the emergency number + 39 3294421091; or the Ministry’s call center on the domestic number 080090990 or the foreign number +373 22 690 990.

At least two people died and nearly 40 others were injured following the magnitude 4 quake on Monday night. The shallow depth of the epicenter meant that the tremor shook the island quite strongly. It was also felt in Naples, where it damaged a number of buildings.
