The Ministry of Education suggests instituting a National School Inspectorate and a Quality Insuring Agency. In a meeting, Minster of Education Maia Sandu said the Inspectorate should enjoy broad independence. In other countries, such a body carries out inspections in education institutions and then presents transparent reports on each of them, IPN reports.
“The report is transparent and every parent can see the difference between the school attended by their children and the school situated nearby and can make a choice,” said the minister.
Maia Sandu said that a Quality Insuring Agency will be created for vocational education and higher education. It will accredit the universities. “When we have an agency recognized at European level, we will not encounter problems as regards the recognition of diplomas issued by institutions accredited by this agency,” stated the minister. The agency will assess the programs of all the universities and will decide which of them can provide services and what disciplines they can teach.
The minister said that no body has monitored the quality of studies since 2008. Until 2008, the Education Ministry included a relevant department. This is not right as the Ministry should not deal with such things.
