The national rugby team of Moldova has won the Under-18 Challenge Cup competition intended for national squads that didn’t qualify for the quarterfinals of the Rugby Europe Championship 2017, Trophy Division, IPN reports.
The team trained by Nicolae Bragarenco played five matches in Hungary. Moldova lost the group matches against Slovenia (12-24), Denmark (17-19) and Monaco (12-24) and failed thus to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Europe Championship, Trophy Division.
Moldova continued its path in the second tournament Challenge Cup. It was first beaten by Andorra 28-17, but in the final it defeated Slovenia 31-0. Among the best players of Moldova were Marius Pintilii, Dumitru Bilici and captain Sava Duminica.
