The teachers and scientific-teaching personnel of education institutions will receive pays by almost 8% higher as of September 1 this year. Parliament adopted a bill to amend and supplement the relevant legislation in the first reading, IPN reports.

The salaries of teachers and scientific-teaching personnel of budget-funded higher, general and vocational education institutions will be raised by 7.99%. The rise is calculated according to the parentage rise in the average official salary projected for the current year as opposed to the average salary of teachers in the fourth quarter of last year. A sum of 130 million lie was allocated in the 2018 state budget for such pay raises.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the average monthly pay of teachers in the last quarter of 2017 was 5,722.7 lei, while the average official salary forecast for this year is 6,180 lei.

The bill also reintroduces the monthly bonus for efficiency as a component of the total salary of public functionary.
