The authorities aim to promote the jobs that are the most popular on the labor market and to convince the students to choose vocational education. The Ministry of Education, in partnership with the Youth Media Center, on July 12 launched an information campaign centering on technical professional education, the 2016-2017 session, and the opportunities for future employees, in the central park of Chisinau, IPN reports.
In the event, Deputy Minister of Education Cristina Boaghi said vocational education becomes more attractive and comes with new elements for students. “The Ministry of Education, with the assistance of the European Union, is in the process of modernizing this area of education. From September, the students will study according to a program that centers on the development of professional skills. It includes IT and entrepreneurship courses. The dual education system is extended. The moves are aimed at bringing education closer to the labor market needs and at increasing the employment rate among graduates,” she stated.
According to the Barometer of Professions compiled by the National Employment Agency, among the most popular jobs on the labor market are tailor, technical support computer operator, waiter, cook, shop-assistant and auto locksmith.
“I studied cooking. I always liked baking something. It is interesting and useful. Furthermore, you can find a job very quickly,” said Nadeja, who graduated from the Chisinau-based vocational school No. 5.
Admission to technical professional education will take place in two stages: July 18 – August 12 and the rerun contest to fill the vacant places during August 16-25. At colleges and centers of excellence, the first stage of admission will be held between July 18 and August 5, while the rerun contest – during August 9-12.
For the 2016-2017 academic year, about 9,000 places are offered at 89 specialties at colleges and centers of excellence and over 9,000 places at 80 specialties at vocational schools. Studies at vocational schools are free and all the students get monthly scholarships, free accommodation and one gratis meal a day.
